Choosing a Captain/Guide for your fishing charter is a big decision.
This page was designed after years of client inquiries and hopefully will make your

Where are you located ?
Reel Charter Fishing is located in the Englewood area on the southwest coast of Florida
situated between Port Charlotte to the east and Venice / Sarasota to the
Harbor, Pine Island, Matlacha and Boca Grande area is some of the best saltwater fishing in
Flats, backcountry, inshore and offshore
This type of fishing is the best that Florida has to offer. The clear pristine grass flats host all types and species of marine life
and the beginning of the food chain. all our game fish prowl these flats as the
source of their nourishment, and primary breeding grounds. The oyster bars, mangrove
islands with miles shoreline, creeks, canals and bayous act as some of the primary
structure that play host to all our game fish. It is not uncommon to actually sight
the fish in these areas as we move quietly searching for them. Sight fishing, is
some of the most exciting and popular type of fishing in Florida today.
What type of boat will we fish from ?
Primarily we will fish from a 21 foot Intrepid flats / tower boat with a
The boat was specifically designed for this type of fishing by the best known name in
quality boat manufacturing. The boat meets all U.S. Coast Guard requirements, and
equipment is on board. I also carry a cellular telephone.
Our level of experience ?
You do not need to be an expert. Often we fish for specific species and use advanced
techniques, we have fun and I provide instruction and help while we fish. It's your
day and I will do all that I can to make it enjoyable and catch you the fish we are after.
I do appreciate the opportunity to be your guide on your day of fishing.
Do you fish with children ?
Yes, yes and yes. I have the best
time and they usually catch all the fish. While we are sometimes after specific
species of fish they do not care as long as they are catching something. Please, for
safety it is very important to limit the age. I have a minimum age of 7 years of
age, however, I do make exceptions as can be seen in our captured memories / photo
album. I help them fish, you are the parent, so please for safety, their
memories and enjoyment I ask that you control them at all times.
Can I use my own tackle ?
Yes, Please express your desire in advance. I provide
top quality tackle for your use from my sponsors. I take all responsibility for my
equipment's maintenance and proper use. However, I do not assume
responsibility when it is abused / neglected, you do. All baits
and or lures are included for your use. Live bait (white bait -scaled
sardines/pilchards/pinfish) when appropriate are also provided. These live baits
when available are cast netted daily, this is a highly effective bait and provided as a
service and part of your trip.
Do we need fishing licenses ?
No, the Captains license provides for your daily fishing.
What do we need to bring ?
I suggest that you dress for the conditions. A baseball type cap, polarized
sunglasses, loose light colored clothing in summer, non-marking soled shoes, warm clothing
for spring and fall. I remember something that I was taught years ago, you can
always take if off, if you are hot, but, if you don't have it you can't put it on.
Camera, drinks (in bags) and snacks / food. I have a cooler with bottled water / ice
on board. Beer is okay, when it gets out of hand the trip is over. Your safety
and my license are to important to jeopardize or lose.
Can we keep our fish ?
Yes, you are welcome to keep the fish you catch under the state's
guidelines and within the species slot limit. When we return to the marina I will
clean your catch as part of the service. Tarpon possession tags are required when
you want to keep a fish for mounting. These tags are provided at an additional cost
of $52.00, please specify when you book the trip that you would like to keep your Tarpon
for mounting. However, I would suggest that we take pictures, length and girth the
fish, and you have a fiberglass replica made (sources given). It is half the cost,
will last years longer and the Tarpon will live to extend the species for years to come,
therefore, providing many more years of fishing enjoyment.
How many anglers, or can you accommodate large groups ?
I can fish a maximum of four (4) anglers.
We are comfortable with two (2) to three (3) anglers respectively.
parties can be accommodated, this is done with multiple guide boats. I use handpicked
Captains / Guides who are professional and very knowledgeable of the area. Business
or corporate charters are tax deductible. I can provide you with receipts for the
